John Avila Escalate Rodriguez was born September 21st 1920; he passed away peacefully at his home in Shafter, California on July 5th 2014. He was married to the love of his life, Gloria Nieto Rodriguez for over 59 years until she passed away in the year 2000. John is survived by his five children- Deanna Rodriguez Root, Richard and wife Yolanda, Johnny Jr. and wife Cecilia, Bobby and wife Bernie, and Vincent Rodriguez, many loving grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great great grandchildren. John was a great baseball player in his younger years and played for his beloved "Eagles" baseball team. He love playing golf with his sons, friends and family members every chance he had. He was an active member of the Shafter Lions Club and St Therese's Catholic Church club for many years. John served his country in the Army and was a proud World War II veteran. He will be missed by many loving family members and friends. His surviving four brothers are Joe, Steve, Gavino, and Henry Rodriguez. His four deceased brothers are Theodore and Trinidad Rodriguez as well as four deceased sisters Pat Weinberger, Hortencia Estavillo, Cedra Estavillo, and Vera Rodriguez. Daddy the blessings and guidance you lovingly bestowed on our family will live on in our hearts, thoughts, and lives until the end of our time. Holy Rosary will be recited Sunday, July 13 at 6pm at Peters Funeral Home Chapel followed by Mass of the Christian Burial at 10am on Monday July 14, 2014 at St. Therese's Church for John Avila Rodriguez, age 93, of Shafter who passed away July 5, 2014 at his home. Interment will follow at Shafter Memorial Park.
