Joaquin Avila was born September 6, 1938 in Mexico to Jose and Alejandro (Reyes) Avila. He married Trinidad Rodriguez and later they moved to Arvin. Joaquin was self employed as a roofer and worked in the Los Angeles area. Joaquin loved working and visiting with his family. He liked to read the papers and watch news on TV. Joaquin is survived by his wife of 44 years Trinadad; sons, Martin, Pedro, Jesse, and Jose; daughters, Rita, Maricela and Lorena; brothers, Martin and Gilberto; sisters, Teresa, Sofia, Ramona and Julia; 9 grandchildren and one on the way. Joaquin was preceded in death by his parents, brothers, Chano and Lupe; son, Gonzalo, daughter Maria Magdalena; and grandson, Alexander Sanchez Avila. A funeral service was held Monday, June 23 at 10am at Arvin Funeral Home for Joaquin Avila, age 69, of Arvin who passed away June 18, 2008. Pastor Manuel Martinez officiated the service and interment followed at South Kern Cemetery, Arvin.
