IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Jim Jr.
Mccabe
September 13, 1930 – August 2, 2007
Jim McCabe, Jr. was born September 13, 1930 in Sterling, Oklahoma to Jim and Edna (Johnson) McCabe. The family moved to California in 1938 to Arvin and that is where Jim received his elementary education. They later moved to Marysville and Jim attended High School there. In 1950 the family moved to Wasco and Jim ran the Beacon Service Station on 7th Street. Later the family owned a laundry mat in Avila Beach where Jim worked as the manager. Jim came back to Wasco in 1960 and began his 29 years of service at the Wasco Housing Authority. He managed the laundry mat and the grounds in later years. He sold ice cream, candy and popcorn to the kids who lived in the camp. He also recorded movies and loaned them out the children to watch. He will be remembered as a kind and generous man. Jim was baptized in the Church of Christ and for a while also attended the Seventh Day Adventist Church of Wasco. A graveside funeral service under the direction of Peters Funeral Home will be held Tuesday, August 7, at 10am at Wasco Memorial Park for Jim McCabe, Jr. who passed away August 2, in Bakersfield. Pastor Danny Scott of the Freewill Baptist Church will officiate and interment will follow. A visitation will be Monday, August 6, from 2pm to 8pm.
