IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Jewel Armstrong
Lytle
May 15, 1943 – June 3, 2021
On Thursday, June 3, 2021, Jewel (Armstrong) Lytle, wife of Gene Lytle for 61 years, passed away at the age of 78. Jewel was born in Steele, Missouri on May 15, 1943 to Charlie and Lucy Armstrong. She was child number eight of ten children, the youngest of the four girls. She moved with her family to California in 1957 and attended Shafter High School. Shortly thereafter she met Gene and they were married in 1959 in the Free Will Baptist Church. Jewel was a full time homemaker and mother to their two children Teresa Jewel and Garland Eugene. In 1972, passing under a large oak tree on Poplar Ave, Jewel surrendered her life to the love and grace of Jesus Christ and the power of the Holy Spirit. Because of her desire to follow Christ with all her heart, she devoted her life to loving and caring for her husband Gene and to raising and teaching her children to love the Lord and honor their father. Jewel loved to cook and clean and focused much of her attention on offering hospitality to her extended family, people in her local church and those in need that God brought into their lives. One of her greatest gifts from God was an extra bonus daughter Renae Lawrence in 1981. She loved all children and took great delight in her 7 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren. In her early years she taught Sunday School classes and helped in the nurseries. Jewel also encouraged young women to love their husbands. She thanked God every day for His forgiveness. Jewel was preceded in death by her parents Charlie and Lucy Armstrong and all of her Armstrong siblings: Leo, Cecil, Janie Link, Garland, Clara Preston, Clyde, Maudie Graves, Gene and Leslie. She is Survived by her loving husband Gene Lytle and their children's families: Teresa (Lytle) Sharp, her husband Lenny, daughter and son in law Tara and Ryker Block, son and daughter in law, Austin and Sarah Sharp and their two daughters, Skylar and Luna Jewel, Eugene and his wife Kindra and their children Connor and Kaylee Lytle, Renae Kloeppel and her husband Brad and Renae's children Joshua Porter, his children Noah, Isabella & Ariel, Gerry Porter and Sara Jewel Porter, several nieces and nephews, and sibling's spouses, cousins and dear friends.
