Jesus Escalante Garcia was born December 31, 1939 in Sonora, Mexico to Mercedes (Escalante) and Pedro M. Garcia. Jesus married Maria Guadalupe Jasso in Mexico and then moved his family to Shafter in 1964 where they raised their 5 children. Any opportunity Jesus had, he would pack up his gear and go fishing. He was always proud of the repairs he finished around the house, his favorite pass time was to spend time with his grandchildren and have family BBQ's. Jesus is survived by his wife, Maria G. Garcia; son, Albert Garcia; daughters, Lucy and husband Michael Alvear of Arizona, Leticia Garcia of Arizona, Irma Garcia of Shafter and Armida and husband David Bogan of Georgia; brothers, Ventura Garcia and wife Ernestina of Tijuana, Mexico, Jose Garcia and wife Sylvia of Shafter, Alberto Garcia and wife Juana of Pixley, Pedro Garcia and wife Janie of Dos Palos and Richardo Garcia and wife Sylvia of Bakersfield; sisters, Ramona Garcia of Bakersfield, Sarah Blanco of Tijuana, Mexico, Cecilia and Richardo Rayos of Bakersfield and Lupe Garcia of Bakersfield, he is also survived by 16 dear and loving grandchildren. Visitation for Jesus Escalante Garcia, age 69, of Shafter will be held Thursday, January 8, 2009 at Peters Funeral Home Chapel from 2-6pm with a rosary at 5pm.
