Jessie "Jewel" Hearn was born June 17, 1931 to Nellie (Averyt) and Howard Bryan in Newcastle, Oklahoma. In 1943 Jessie and her family moved to Shafter where she married the love of her life Robert Leroy Hearn. Jewel made a career for herself in the fashion industry working at Mode O Day in Wasco and Fashion Cross Roads Dress Store in Shafter. Jewel was preceded in death by her husband, Robert Hearn; other family members Hubert Carlton Bryan, Vera Mae Gladden, and Martha Briley. Jewel is survived by her sisters Ruth Sexton and Velma Flick. A graveside service will be held Friday, March 19 at 1pm at Shafter Memorial Park. Visitation will be held Thursday, March 18 from 2-8pm at Peters Funeral Home, for Jewel Hearn, age 78, who passed away in Shafter on March 15, 2010.
