Jeanne Fermine Maitia was born in Ahaxe, France, to Etienne and Marie Dendarin on August 7, 1923. Jeanne lived in France until 1957 when she moved to Bakersfield with her family. She was an honorary member of the Kern County Basque Club and she greatly enjoyed all activites held by the club; especially watching the dancing, of which her grandchildren and great grandchildren were a part. She also enjoyed spending time outdoors gardening. Jeanne was preceeded in death by her husband Raymond, her parents and her brothers and sister. Jeanne is survived by her daughters, Janine Araneta and Maddy Arrayet and husband Arnaud, of Bakersfield; grandchildren, Bobby and wife Carrie, Raymond and wife Michelle, Danny and wife Danette, Jimmy and wife Tef, Josette and husband Gerard; great grandchildren Bianca, Hannah, Sarah, Madison, Ramuntxo and Xalbat; sisters in law, Mayie Maitia and Gracianne Etchegaray and husband Bernard; several nieces and nephews in Bakersfield and France. A Memorial Mass will be held at St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church on Monday, July 19, 2010 beginning at 11:00A.M., Father Ralph Belluomini will officiate.
