Jeanie Eliza Rucks, Faithful Servant, Compassionate Nurse, and Loving Mother, Enters Eternal Rest at 73.

Bakersfield, CA - Jeanie Eliza Rucks, a devoted nurse, beloved mother, and believer in Christ, went home to be with the Lord on July 19, 2025, in Bakersfield, California. She was 73 years old.

Born on November 8, 1951, in Baltimore, Maryland, Jeanie lived a life marked by compassion and service. She began her nursing career as a Licensed Vocational Nurse and, through dedication and perseverance, became a Registered Nurse. Jeanie served for many years at San Joaquin Hospital in Bakersfield, working across various departments and ultimately serving as a case manager. Her strong spirit and steady presence brought comfort to countless patients and families. She was an absolute advocate for her patients.

Jeanie was a longtime attendee of Fruitvale Community Church, where she built lasting friendships and found spiritual nourishment. In her later years, she worshipped at Valley Baptist Church.

She is survived by her brother, Chris Miller of Machesney Park, IL; her three sons, James (Larissa) Rucks of Walnut Creek, CA, Joel (Renee) Rucks of Bakersfield, CA, and Jayson Rucks of Bakersfield, CA; and her four grandchildren: Kohen, Kaitlyn, and Klaire Rucks of Bakersfield, and Madelyn Rucks of Walnut Creek.

Jeanie will be remembered for her strong spirit, her zest for life, and her dedication to her nursing career. Her legacy lives on in the lives of not only her family, but of the many patient's lives she touched over the years.

A memorial service to honor Jeanie's life will be held on July 31st at 10:00 AM at Peters Funeral Home in Shafter, CA . Following the service, a private interment will take place at Shafter Memorial Park.
