Obituary

Jay Varner Wilson was born August 30th, 1975 in Bakersfield, California. He passed into his Heavenly home from his Earthly home at the Shafter Airport on May 23rd, 2016. He was raised two miles south of Shafter with his two older brothers, Steve and Sam. Jay attended Richland School and graduated from Shafter High School in 1994. He attended B.C. for two years while working for Inland Crop Dusters. On December 12, 1998, he married Tracy (Johnson) Camp, helping raise her daughter Taylor Camp. The following year they had their beloved daughter, Jaymie – the love of his life. Jay followed in his Father's and Grandfather's footsteps by learning the crop dusting trade. He was fully dedicated to his business, Inland Crop Dusters. He got along well with customers and employees alike. Being technically savvy, he continuously updated the computer with new technologies so that the company was more efficient in performing services to the agricultural community and to the general aviation community at Shafter Airport. He served several terms on the Shafter Airport Board of Directors. Jay was very generous with family, friends and employees. He enjoyed putting on BBQ's for everyone and treating crowds to delicious entrees. He was an outgoing and extremely friendly person with a big heart. Jay was an outdoorsman and enjoyed spending time fishing on both the ocean and mountain lakes. He also enjoyed hunting on his Ocuya Creek Ranch and in South Dakota at the Amiotte Ranch. He is survived by his parents, Noel and Janice Wilson, his brothers Steve and Sam, his sister-in-laws Jill, Sheri and families, and his beloved daughter Jaymie. There are many aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews who also survive him. Jay was truly a delightful person to be around. He fit the mold of the last child in a family with his off-the-cuff humor, and would always add a hilarious comment or antic to the conversation. His way of bringing a smile, his way of making laughter, and his way of lifting up the spirits of all those around him will never be forgotten. There is a huge hole left vacant in the hearts of those who loved him. Those of us who know Jesus as our Savior can rest in assurance that he is in our Savior's arms and we will be with him again someday. Jay's last charitable contribution was to Teen Challenge. In lieu of purchasing flowers for Jay, the family would like a donation to be made to Teen Challenge.
