Janice E. Richardson passed away on August 6, 2012 in Bakersfield, California. Janice was born in Bakersfield, Ca. on September 4, 1949 to Jerl and Geneva Richardson. Janice grew up in Shafter attending Richland School and Shafter High School. Janice dedicated 24 years to serving the students of Redwood Elementary School, retiring in 2009 for health reasons. She was the oldest of 8 children and naturally became the second mom to her siblings. Being partial to her five sisters, if there was ever any trouble; her two younger brothers seemed to always be at fault. Although Janice never had children of her own, she was a maternal figure to her 7 siblings and to most of her nieces and nephews whom affectionately called her Nana. Her loving presence will be dearly missed. Janice is preceded in death by her father, Jerl Dee Richardson. She is survived by her mother, Geneva F. Richardson; brothers, David and Warren Richardson; sisters, Mary Lee Richardson, Connie Kennon, Lisa Nipper, Jennifer Ashmore, and Roslyn Webb; and 17 nieces and nephews. A chapel service will be held at Peters Funeral Home Chapel on August 10 @ 10:00 a.m. followed by a graveside committal at Shafter Memorial Park
