Jane Mary O'Neil, "Grandma Jane," a woman strong in faith and compassion, passed to eternal life on July 25, 2008. She was born to Raymond and Mariana Etchegaray on June, 18, 1922. She was adopted by John and Maryann Demos when she was nine years old. She is preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Leroy; her sister, Grace Ermigarat; and her brother, Domingo Etchegaray. Jane O'Neil's Rosary/Funeral Mass/ luncheon will be held at 10:00 a.m. Friday, August 1, 2008, at St. Francis Church 900 H Street. Interment will follow at Tehachapi Public Cemetery. Everyday of Jane's life she would pray this prayer: "Lord send me someone whom I might be able to help today." In the spirit of that prayer we remember Jane O'Neil as an adoring wife, a caring mother, grandmother, and a faithful volunteer. She was married for 45 years to Leroy O'Neil her soul mate and loving husband. Together they had four sons, 13 grandchildren and 12 great- grandchildren. She devoted her life to her children, her church, and her community. During her life she was involved as the past president of the women's club, and catechism teacher at Our Lady of Guadalupe Church. She was a den mother for Boys Scouts of America. She was a volunteer for the Well Baby Clinic, Gleaners and Kern River Parkway Foundation. She was a member of the Golden Agers Club at St. Francis Church. Some of Jane's fondest memories were traveling to Mexico, Canada and around the United States with her husband in their "Lazy Dayz". She leaves behind her four sons and daughters-in-law, Ron and Claudia O'Neil, Larry and Gertie O'Neil, Richard and Nancy O'Neil, and Scott and Katie O'Neil. Her 13 grandchildren, Anthony O'Neil and wife, Valier, Brian O'Neil and wife, DeAnn, Craig O'Neil, Dennis O'Neil and wife, Amy, Eric O'Neil and wife, Tiffany, Brandon O'Neil and wife, Amanda, Ryan O'Neil, Kristen O'Neil, Tim O'Neil and wife, Taryn, Adriane Holguin and husband, Mike, Holli Walker and husband, Brent, Kelley O'Neil, Lisa Hartsock, and Meghan O'Neil. Jane will be missed in a special way by her dear sister, Mary Metropulos and her dearest friends Helani Lima and Mary Banducci. The family would like to thank caregivers at Parkview Julian Convalescent Home and Memorial Hospital CHW for their care and love. Thanks, also, to Monsignor Ron Sweat and Father Ralph Belluomini. In lieu of flowers Jane's wish was that you give to your favorite charity or to Our Lady of Guadalupe School 609 E. California Avenue, 93307. Grandma, You're The Best! We love you, your family
