JAMES DENNIS MCDADE, retired California Department of Parks and Recreation employee. Born May 4, 1921, in Mary's Help Hospital, San Francisco, California, the son of Dennis Francis and Lura Estella McDade, returned to his maker December 24, 2011. James was a long-time resident of Fair Oaks, California, and of Yucca Valley, California since 2004. James had one sister, Frances Estella, Hedin (deceased). James graduated from Roosevelt Grammer School in Burlingame, California, Burlingame High School, San Mateo Junior College, and San Jose State College in the class of 1944 with a degree in Mathematics. James served in the Naval Reserve during World War II, including the liberation of the Phillipine Islands, beginning with the initial invasion on October 20, 1944. On November 20, 1954, James married Vada Elnor Bender, a widow with two young children, William George Bender and JaNellyn Bender. Vada and James enlarged the family with three more children, Joanne E. McDade, Dennis H. McDade, and Patrick J. McDade (deceased). James retired from his job with the State of California in June, 1984. During retirement James and Vada travelled extensively. James visited a total of 24 countries, mostly during his retirement years. James wife, Vada, preceded him in death on January 10, 2004. Friends and family are invited to a memorial service at the San Joaquin National Cemetary, Gustine, California, on January 13, at 1:00 PM.
