A memorial service for James Wilson Hunsinger Sr. was held at 4 p.m. March 9 at the United Methodist Church, with Pastor John Runckle officiating. A 36-year resident of California and 16-year resident of Yucca Valley, Mr. Hunsinger died at home March 7, 2009. He was born in Pennsylvania to Amos Hunsinger and Helen M. Whitmire Hunsinger. Mr. Hunsinger was a United States Marine for 31 years before he retired. He is survived by his wife of 35 years, JoJo Hunsinger of Yucca Valley; son and daughter-in-law Jim and Susan Hunsinger of Alabama; daughter and son-in-law Christina Hunsinger Murray and Tim Murray of Yucca Valley; grandchildren Amy Albone and Tina Sullivan, both of Yucca Valley, and Tony Hunsinger, Timmy Hunsinger and JoAnne Hunsinger, all of Alabama; and great-grandchildren Brennan Sullivan, Caden Sullivan and Bret Albone, all of Yucca Valley, and Jaylynn Hunsinger of Alabama. His parents preceded him in death. In lieu of flowers, Mr. Hunsinger's family requests memorial donations be made to Hospice of Yucca Valley.
