IN LOVING MEMORY OF
James Edmon
Hedge
June 23, 1945 – March 9, 2016
James was born on June 23, 1945 in Bakersfield, to Calvin "C.A." and Violet Hedge and went to be with the Lord on March 9, 2016 surrounded by family and friends.
He lived a full life, and anyone who was lucky enough to spend time with him knew the incredible kindness, warmth, and humor he possessed. He graduated from North High School and Southern Bible College in Oklahoma City. He was a Veteran of the Vietnam War, proudly serving in the Navy SeaBees. His love for the Lord led him to help build a church in the Philippines, and later in life he became an ordained Minister.
As a member of Trinity Life Chapel, James was a leader of the Royal Rangers boy's club, Men's Ministries director, and performed various duties. He also enjoyed singing in a trio with his wife and mother.
He was a classic car enthusiast, and a member of the National Street Rod Association. He enjoyed attending car shows, often entering his own vehicle in competition. In 2015, James won 2 awards for his 1964 Ford Galaxie.
Our holidays will never be the same without him, and his signature pineapple brown sugar baked ham. During family birthday parties, he always managed to sneak a corner of the cake before the candles were lit, regardless of whose birthday it was. His passing has left a void in our hearts that can never be filled.
James was preceded in death by his father C.A. and sister, Cheryl. He is survived by his mother Rev. Violet Curlee, his devoted wife of 33 years, Barbara, sister Gisele "Gigi" and husband Pat, son Austen and wife Meaghan, daughters Jina and husband Steve, and Jennifer and husband Chad, step-daughters Debbie and husband Frank, Lori and Pam, Grandchildren Aiden, Emily, Sadie, Drew, Quin, Haven, Jaelyn, Robert, Ryan, Tyler, Melissa and husband Darren, Kelsey and great granddaughter Chloe, as well as numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews, beloved friends and church family.
A special thanks to Dr. Kevin Stiles and the staff at Fresenius Medical Care for their tireless efforts and compassionate care.
