Obituary

Visitation is scheduled for Sunday, November 26, 2006, from 2-9 pm, at Hopson-Anspach Family Mortuary with recitation of the Holy Rosary read at 7 pm. Mass of Christian burial will be Monday, November 27, 2006, 1 pm, at Our Lady of Perpetual Help with interment immediately following at Greenlawn Cemetery. James Marshall Bowman was born May 18, 1920, in Fellows, California to James and Evelyn Bowman. James was a plumber by trade; he worked for a couple of prominent local plumbing companies and even owned his own for a while. He eventually went to work for the Plumbers and Steamfitters Apprentice School which he ended up running until he retired in 1982. He continued to stay involved as president of the Retirees Association for many years until his health became a factor. James' favorite pastime was travel. It could be on land or sea as with both he could always find a slot machine. He was one who never raised his voice or hand in anger. He was gentle and loving to everyone he met. James always had a love for cars. His favorite was a '36 Ford Coupe. James was fortunate to have two wonderful women in his life: his first wife Ann McDermott Bowman - married 47 years and Kay Janssen Bowman - married 12 years. He was dearly loved by his children, stepchildren and grandchildren. One of the proudest times of his life was in the service of his country. He enlisted in the Navy in 1941 at the age of 21 and served for 4 years, mostly on the all volunteer PT boat squadrons of the South Pacific. He was honorably discharged in 1945. James is preceded in death by his first wife, Ann Catherine Bowman. He is survived by his wife Kay Janssen Bowman; sons and their wives, Jerry and Carol Bowman, and Jim and Stacy Bowman; step-children and spouses, Karen and Dan Bayless, Susan Janssen, Marjorie and Jeff Warren, Fred and Anne Janssen, and Elizabeth and Michael Geyer; brother, Bob Bowman and wife Vera; sister, Betty Webster; grandchildren, Jeremy, Casey, Kristin, Ryan, Jenna, and numerous nieces and nephews.
