Obituary

Jack Wilbur Rodocker entered the house of the Lord on January 19th, 2022. Jack was born in Bakersfield, Ca on February 21st, 1940, to Beatrice Carroll. Growing up he spent some years in Pennsylvania before moving back to Bakersfield where he met the love of his life. Jack met Lola in 1956 and they married January 17, 1958. That first year married, the couple welcomed their first daughter Sonja. Later that year Jack joined United States Army where he proudly served in Germany. When he returned home Jack & Lola welcomed their second daughter Jackie and enjoyed being back with his girls. Jack was described by his family as goofy, sarcastic, stubborn, caring, and loving. Jack was a one of a kind person who enjoyed playing cards, watching nascar, having a drink at the bar with friends, making goofey faces with grandkids, and eating dinners with his family on Saturdays. He took pride in serving his country. He loved God, the Bible, old western movies, and music like Elvis, Reba, & Brenda Lee. He was known for telling tall tales, dancing with his girls, and loving God. His biggest story was how he got a scar on his eyebrow from getting shot with a bow and arrow when he was almost scalped by an indian. He loved dancing with Lola to Teddy Bear often after work or when ever there was music on. He taught his daughter and grandaughter the jitterbug and danced it with them at both their weddings. He taught his grandkids how to count in German and they loved watching him say 555 without his teeth in. His granddaughter enjoyed having him over for Wednesday night dinners and kissing their fancy double cheek kisses like the french goodbye. Jack loved God and the bible. He read out of his bible every night to his wife and two girls. This past year he enjoyed his grandson Austen and his fiance Toni picking him up on Sundays to go to church and breakfast. He talked a lot of the Bible and taught his grandson Josh his first Bible verse " You must not worship any God but the lord your God". He was remembered for taking in and helping a friend that had no where to go during hard times. That friend remembered seeing a Bible on top of some books and when he handed Jack another book, Jack put it at the bottom and told him the only thing he'd place on a Bible is another Bible. This past couple tears Jack wasn't able to go see his sister Carol for any card games but he continued to call her every Saturday morning to talk. After his wife had passed and especially after his first daughter Jack called his daughter Jackie every night at 9pm to tell her good night and he loved her. His daughter Jackie has enjoyed getting closer and taking care of him over the last few months and getting to see his strong personality continue to shine through till the end. He will be missed and is loved by all who knew him. Jack is survived by his daughter Jacqueline Asbury & husband Dean; grandchildren, Jay Dunlap (Sharon), Michael Dunlap (Alaya), Joshua Dunlap, Kristen Haslam (Jackson), Austen Asbury (Antonia); Great grandkids Skyler, Asher, Jayme, Ember, & Hudson Dunlap, Jackson & Josie Haslam; sister, Carol Jenson; niece Kim Miller. He is preceded in death by his wife of 48 years, Lola Dee Rodocker, his daughter Sonja Dunlap, son Anthony, great grandaughter Sloan Dunlap; son-in-law Jay Dunlap, and brother-in-law Lee Jenson.
