Obituary

Jack H. Nikkel 02/19/1927-02/05/2007 Jack H. Nikkel went home to be with his Lord and Savior on February 5, 2007. He was born February 19, 1927, in Bakersfield. He was raised by his parents, Albert and Frieda in Shafter. After graduating from high school, he was drafted into the Army and was sent overseas to work with the Occupation Forces in Europe. Upon returning from military duty, Jack joined his dad in running Nikkel Iron Works, the family business. On March 31, 1950, he married June Ann Cook. Together they raised two children, Donald and Janet. Don passed away in 1978. Jack and his family attended the First Mennonite Church in Shafter until its closing. He then served faithfully at Valley Bible Church in Shafter. Jack is survived by his wife of 56 years, June; daughter, Janet; son-in-law, Mike; daughter-in-law, Nancy; grandchildren, Nicole, Deborah, Joanne and her husband, Jason; and great grandson, Caleb. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Don Nikkel Kiwanis Memorial Scholarship, P.O. Box 685, Shafter, Ca. 93263; or the Valley Bible Church Missions Fund, 350 Pine St. Shafter, Ca. 93263 A private graveside service under the direction of Peters Funeral Home was held at Shafter Memorial Park on Thursday, February 8, 2007, at 10am, for Jack H. Nikkel, age 79, of Shafter. A memorial service was held at Valley Bible Church, 350 Pine St. Shafter, Ca, at 11am; Pastor Mike Polley of the Valley Bible Church of Shafter and Pastor Roger Trautmann officiated the service.
