J. C. McVay was born on March 4, 1922, to Riley and Iona McVay, in Atkins, Arkansas. He married Elsie Westerman on March 13, 1942, in Missouri. They moved to Bakersfield in 1952 and to Shafter in 1973. J. C. was a farm equipment mechanic with various farms throughout his lifetime. J. C. was preceded in death by his wife, Elsie in 2006, (Dad was Mom's companion and caregiver during her battle with Alzheimer's.); daughter, Judi, grandson, Larry, granddaughter, Jennifer. He is survived by 3 brothers and 1 sister; sons, Larry and wife, Susan and Jim and wife, Karen; daughters, Linda and husband, Joe, Kathy and husband, Ron, Jeanette and husband, Glen; 10 grandchildren and 15 great grandchildren all of Bakersfield. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Kern Alzheimer's. A graveside funeral service under the direction of Peters Funeral Home was held at Shafter Memorial Park on Friday, March 2, 2007, at 2pm, for J. C. McVay, age 84, of Lake Isabella, who passed away February 27, 2007 in Lake Isabella. Chaplain Wayne Meade of Hoffman Hospice officiated the services. Please sign J. C.
