Visitation will be held Tuesday, August 28, 2007 from 2-9 pm with recitation of the Holy Rosary at 7 p.m at Hopson-Anspach Family Mortuary, 620 Oregon Street. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Wednesday, August 29, 2007 at 9:00 a.m. at St. Francis Catholic Church, 900 H street, for Ismael Martinez Jr. who passed August 22, 2007. A celebration of life reception for J.R. will be held at St. Francis Catholic Church immediately following graveside services. Ismael was Happily married for 30 years and is survived by his wife Isabel; daughter Andrea; sons Philip, Ismael III and wife Erlinda, Christopher and wife Tammy; and grandchildren Ismael IV, Anthony, Alyssa, Aysiah, and Christian. He is also survived by his mother Felice Martinez; brothers, Samuel, Enrique, Juan, Jesus, Maxcimo and Richard; sisters, Guadalupe, Maria, Esther, Victoria, Virginia, Felicia, Josephine, Evangelina, and numerous nieces and nephews. J.R., as he was known, loved to spend time with his family and was a devoted grandfather. His children and grandchildren were his pride and joy. He was a supportive father and was proud of his children's accomplishments. He had a great sense of humor and was always ready to lend a hand. A man who enjoyed fast cars and sports, he was also an avid 49ers fan. He was a wonderful brother and a loving son. J.R. was a graduate of Bakersfield High School, he worked for many years for Midway Fishing Tool Co., Northridge Equipment, and Pillsbury. J.R. is preceded in death by his father Ismael Martinez, Sr. and his sister Eleanor. "J.R., you will be missed by those who love you and cherish the years they had to know you"
