Irene Victoria Porter died Wednesday, October 27, 2010, peacefully at her home in Wasco. She was born on September 13, 1928 in Stockton California to Laura May Evans and James Walter Lawler. Growing up she relocated with her parents from town to town, depending on the agriculture that was in season and where work was available; graduating from Wasco High School. She met and married her sweat-heart, William Leo Porter Sr. on Sept. 6, 1947 in Wasco, CA; they had 3 adventurous boys whom they loved and nourished together. She purchased the Mode-O-Day in San Luis Obispo then later in her business career she purchased the one in Wasco, where she enjoyed meeting people and displaying the latest fashions. She and William belonged to a Motor Home Group and enjoyed taking trips throughout the states. When ever possible Irene would have the family over and prepare meals that were delicious, she often sat back and enjoyed watching them eat, visit and hear the laughter and talking going on. In her later days she found calmness in her flower garden, she made sure it was kept watered daily. Irene loved her boys and grandchildren, but had a special place in her heart for her great-grandchildren. Irene V. Porter was preceded in death by her loving husband William Leo Sr.(2003), of 56 years; brothers Harvey, and Gilford; sisters Elsie, Bessie, Anna Lee, and Reba. She is survived by her sons William Leo Porter Jr., and wife Mari, Michael Wayne Porter and wife Donna, and Kenneth Porter and wife Sheila; sisters Vena Pittman and Jean Malstron, 4 grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren, all of whom will remember Irene's love she shared. A 10 am Graveside Service is scheduled for Irene Victoria Porter, age 82, from Wasco, Tuesday, November 2, 2010 at Wasco Memorial Park, visitation is at Peters Funeral Home from 5 to 8 pm on Monday, November 1, 2010.
