Ira E. Benbow Dec. 31, 1921 - Feb. 13, 2008 IN LOVING MEMORY OF OUR Father, Grandfather, Great-Grandfather, Veteran Ira was preceded in death by his wife, Evelyn, in August 2002 and son, Don, in October 2006. He is survived by his sons, Kenny and wife, Dona, Tom and wife, Jan; his daughters, Janet and husband, Tom Goss, and Diane Cushman; 8 grandchildren, and 6 great-grandchildren; and brother- in-law, Leland and wife, Dolly Brown. Ira entered active service November 1942 and was honorably discharged October 1945. He served in the Air Offensive Europe Campaign with the 365th Bomber Squad, 305th Bomber Group in England. He successfully flew 26 combat missions and received the Air Medal, Distinguished Flying Cross, and Bronze Star. After being discharged from the Army Air Corp he returned to Arvin, CA to marry his childhood sweetheart Evelyn where they raised 5 children. Ira retired as a Machinist from the Signal Oil & Gas refinery to enjoy the rest of his years traveling with Evelyn and spending time with his family. The family wishes to extend their deepest thanks to all relatives, friends, and closest neighbors, for their help and support in this time of hardship. Visitation is scheduled for Monday, February 18th, from 2-8 p.m., at the Arvin Funeral Home, with a graveside service on Tuesday, February 19th, 10:00 a.m., at the Arvin Cemetery, 15543 S. Vineland Rd.
