IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Imogene
Flud
December 17, 1921 – June 20, 2012
Imogene Flud was born December 17, 1921 in Cleburne, Texas, to parents John and Maggie (Lee) George. She married Charles Henry Flud in Ada, Oklahoma during June of 1941. Shortly after, the couple loaded up the old Ford Model T and headed for California. For a few years they traveled up and down the valley working seasonally for various agriculture employers; eventually making Bakersfield their home for good. Imogene loved to go fishing, she enjoyed leaving the stress of day to day life and finding someplace calm and quiet to relax. She also enjoyed caring for her birds; over the years she had different types of birds as pets, but she loved all kinds of wild birds as well. Imogene was quite a social woman, and she always wanted to go dancing and she enjoyed time out with friends. She was a strong woman, capable of hard work; she was raised to take care of herself and make sure those around her were well cared for too. She will be dearly missed. Imogene was preceded in death by her parents, John and Maggie George; 6 of her siblings; and a brother-in-law, Simon Flud and his wife Ally. She is survived by her daughter, Shirley and husband John Collier; her grandchildren, Shawn Collier and wife Rebecca, Christopher Collier and his former wife, Shannon; her great grandchildren, Katarina, Ashlynn, Triston and Trent; her sister, Faye Ingley; and her nephew, Jesse Phillips. A visitation was held at Peters Funeral Home on Monday, June 25, 2012 from 2-8pm. A graveside service was held at Shafter Memorial Park on Tuesday, June 26, 2012 at 10am.
