IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Ignacio -
Barboza
December 23, 1957 – August 8, 2009
Ignacio Barboza was born in Michoacan, Mexico on December 23, 1957 to Consuelo (Solorio) and Filomeno Barboza. He came to Wasco at the age of 20 years in 1977, returned to Mexico and married Angelita Avina on December 26, 1979. They came to Shafter in 1999 where they raised their 3 precious daughters, in a loving home that was filled with warm hugs and laughter. He was employed as a farm laborer with Alan Jensen for 26 years. He was surrounded by his family, as he always believed and said "Family comes first" and "there is no one like your family." The most recent joy of the family was his one and only grandson, Isaiah. His favorite pass time was watching soccer, always cheering for Guadalajara's "Chivas." He had a garden where he grew his own chilies for the best homemade salsa, because every meal needed salsa. Some of the best vacations were going to the beach and visiting Sea World. He was a hard worker, a wonderful provider, a great husband, father and grandfather. His values and memory will live in his family for generations to come. The family appreciates the entire staff at Oddesay Hospice, with special acknowledgements for the care given to Ignacio by J.R., Eli, Adriana and social worker, Sandra. Ignacio is preceded in death by his father, Filomeno (2006) and is survived by his loving wife, of 29 years; daughters Viviana Barboza, Lourdes (Cristo) Garza, Marilu Barboza; mother, Consuelo Barboza; brothers Rafael, Francisco, Salvador, Jose Luis, Gerardo, Felipe Barboza; sister Teresa Solorio; grandson, Isaiah Barboza; God-children, Jesus and Alexandro Barboza; many nieces, nephews, extended family and many friends. Mass of the Resurrection will be held for Ignacio Barboza, age 51 of Shafter, on Friday, August 14, 2009 - 10am with interment immediately following at Wasco Memorial Park. Visitation will be held Thursday, August 13, 2009 – at Peters Funeral Home Chapel 2-5:30. The Holy Rosary will be recited at St. Johns Catholic Church, Thursday, August 13th.
