Hortensia Espericueta was 95 years old when she went to be with the Lord on July 2, 2018. She was born on July 10, 1922, in Alamo, Texas. Hortensia was one of ten children born to Rafael and Beatrice Acosta. She was blessed with eleven daughters and two sons. Daughters and sons include Teresa (Sigifredo) Gonzalez; Israel (Letty) Espericueta; Clara (Phillip) Valdez; Irma (Juvencio) Pena; Ricardo (Olivia) Espericueta; Adela (Lupe) Pena; Imelda Espericueta; Ismelda (Nicolas) Martinez; Estella Espericueta; Janie (Daniel) Olvera; Rachel (Art) Soliz; Josie (Steve) Soliz; and Elena (Pete) Espinoza. Hortensia has 36 grandchildren and 86 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband Ramiro Espericueta, and daughters Imelda Espericueta, Irma Pena, and Estella Espericueta. In her early years Hortensia studied nursing. Later on as a partner in her husband's farm labor contracting business she balanced the duties of home and work life with perseverance, pride and love. Her life revolved around her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, extended family and friends. She was a generous mother and friend to everyone. Every holiday she meticulously made sure every grandchild was in her thoughts and received a special gift from grandma. She came from a proud heritage, with humble and hardworking Christian roots whose legacy lives on in the hearts and lives of her loving family. Hortensia was loved and will be dearly missed.
