Graveside services were held on Monday, October 16, 2006 at 10am at Wasco Memorial Park for Horace "Buck" Nored, age 78, of Wasco who passed away on October 11, 2006 at his residence in Wasco. Pastor Bonnie Morris of the True Gospel Church of Wasco officiated and interment followed. Buck Nored was born February 10, 1928 in Antlers, Oklahoma, the son of Noah W. and Mae (Lowe) Nored. The family came to California in the 1930's and to Wasco in 1940. He attended Wasco elementary schools and one year of high school at Wasco Union High School. He served in the US Navy from 1947 to 1951. He married Mary Ann King on June 13, 1952 in Bakersfield. He had been employed until retirement for the City of Wasco as Public Works Director from 1967 to 1990. He had previously been employed by Cotter Trucking Company and Lowe Bros. Hay Company. Buck and his wife, Mary enjoyed square dancing for 17 years and also spent 17 years with the Foresters Camping Club. He was a member of Wasco Elks Lodge and a lifetime member of Wasco Veteran's of Foreign Wars. Buck is survived by his wife, Mary of Wasco; sons, Terry W. Nored and wife Toni of Apache Junction, AZ, Dennis Nored and wife Yvonne of Paso Robles; daughter, Sharolette Airrington and husband Steve of Bakersfield; brother, RW Nored and wife Liz of Hugh, OK; sister, Viola Benson and husband Leo of Placerville; 8 grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Art, JF and Monroe Nored; sisters, Zanobie Bowman, Bill Roberts, and Maude Robertson; granddaughter, Michele Doolan; and great grandson, Anthony Nored.
