Hilda Ruth Wiebe was born in Parlier, California on February 18, 1924 to John and Lena Neufeld. After graduating from Parlier High School, she earned a teaching certificate from Pacific Bible College. While teaching at Maple School, she met and married Robert Wiebe. They were blessed with four children, Dale, Mark, Ann and Lauren. She was a loving mother and wonderful homemaker, who always enjoyed making pies for church dinners. Her pies were always the highlight of after-church functions. After her husband's passing, Hilda announced she wanted, "one more adventure of her own choosing," and moved to Pismo, California. Her years in Pismo were filled with wonderful friends and fun adventures. After years of serving in child evangelism, Awana, choir, and various school groups, Hilda found a new place to serve her precious Lord—Captive Hearts Ministry in Grover Beach. Serving in this ministry became a real passion where she led Bible studies and demonstrated consistent love to women in prison. When Hilda turned 88 she began to experience health issues for the first time in her life. As a result, she moved to Bakersfield to be closer to family. Hilda has always looked forward to the day she would meet her Savior face to face. On April 19, 2014, she found peace and healing she had longed for. Hilda is survived by her children and their families; Dale and Karen, Brian, Jeff and Kevin; Mark and Mary, Andrew and Ingrid; Ann and Dale (Heinrichs), Sam and Sara; Lauren and Debbie, Jonathan and Hannah. A celebration of Hilda's life will be held on April 26th at 2pm at Rosewood Retirement Community in Bakersfield, CA.
