Herman Thomas Hill, better known as "Tommy" of Shafter, CA went home to the Lord on Sunday, April 10, 2016 peacefully in his sleep at his residence in Shafter. He was born in Little Rock, Arkansas on February 20, 1954 to the late Alta Jessee (Bradford) and Fredrick Jessee. He grew up and lived in Shafter, CA. Tommy worked for many years in the Oilfields and in Agriculture all around Kern County, and just before becoming disabled he was a House Manager for Jason's Retreat in Bakersfield, CA. Tommy was a loving, caring and generous man he would give you the shirt off his back if you needed it. He enjoyed going fishing and camping with all of his family. He had a passion for Barbecuing and loved sharing his grilling skills as he taught many of the younger men in his family how to cook the perfect steaks and tri-tip. Everyone who visited him will miss his good "old fashioned" cooking, especially his buttermilk biscuits and gravy. Tommy was a man of many talents he liked working on cars, working with wood and even fixing things around the house. Tommy loved his 5 children and 14 grandchildren, and 3 great-grandchildren, more than life itself and would brag about them to anyone that would listen. He is survived by his Daughter, Tommie Sue Hill Cordova and her husband Will and their children Micaela "Mickey", Matthew, Willis and Jasmine, his son Gregory Scott Hill and his children Michael Rivera, Gregory Hill Jr. and Vincent Hill, son Kenneth "Kenny" Hill and his wife Ana and their children David, Desiree, Denise, Dolores, Joe, and his daughter Ashley Hill Contreras and her husband Moises "Moe"and their children Madelynn "Maddy" and Aliza. He is preceded in death by his son Tommy Wayne Hill and grandson David Omar Hill. Tommy was blessed with a strong mind and loved telling stories and sharing all his old memories. He was the fourth child of eight, so he had a lot of memories to share. He is survived by his "one true love" Cecilia Hill, brothers John Hill and wife Joyce of Shafter, CA, Don Hill and wife Brenda of Porterville, CA, Dewey Jessee and wife Sandra of Shafter, CA, Sisters Dora Pelayo and Wanda Jessee both of Shafter, CA along with numerous nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his Brother David Hill and his sister Bertha Jessee. His family is grateful for all the good times they had with him and will cherish all the memories they have of him. Tommy had a wonderful smile and laugh and had a way of making others laugh with him, his sense of humor will greatly be missed. Visitation will be on Monday, April 18, 2016 at Peter's Funeral Home in Shafter, CA from 4-8 P.M. Funeral Services will be Tuesday, April 19, 2016 at Jesus Saves Church in Shafter, CA at 10:00 A.M. with graveside services immediately following at the Shafter Cemetery.
