IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Henry Merle
Leach
July 23, 1933 – December 27, 2012
Henry (Hank) Merle Leach was born to James and Elizabeth Leach on July 23, 1933 in Sharon Springs, Kansas. A few years later the family moved to California. In 1953 he married the love of his life, Lorene (Renie) Dacquel just before serving in the Army during the Korean Conflict. In 1956, their daughter Denise was born. Before and after his service he was employed by Week's Wholesale Rose Growers in Ontario, California and in 1964 supervised the move of the rose growing operation to Wasco. His family moved to Wasco in 1966. He worked for Weeks Roses for over 35 years and retired from rose growing in 1980. Following that he worked with Marshall Martin doing electrical work for a few years and with his son in law, Mike, in his roofing business. In 1987 he began a new career taking care of his grandson Brian, and in 1989 his granddaughter Elizabeth joined them. He cared for them until each started kindergarten. His family was his passion and spending that special time with his grandkids was the highlight of his life. In 2008, Renie, his beloved wife of 54 years, died. He died peacefully in his sleep on December 27th and is now reunited with her. Their ashes will be interred together at the Bakersfield National Cemetery on January 11, 2013 at 12:30pm. Hank was preceded in death by his wife, Lorene (Renie) Leach; his parents, James and Elizabeth Leach; brothers, Ed, George, Bud and Kermit Leach; sisters, Hattie Donaghe, Iva Leach, Eva Lawson, Phyllis Folwell and Doris Andazola. He is survived by his daughter, Denise Hamlin, son in law Mike Hamlin and grandchildren, Brian and Elizabeth Hamlin, all of Bakersfield; brother, John Leach and sisters, Alice Crosno and June Buchanan, all of Ontario. Hank will be remembered for his love of family, and his love of laughter. He loved to bring a smile to your face and enjoyed the simple things in life. Hank will be dearly missed. Many thanks to Dr. Komin, "Around the Clock" caregivers Sandra and Maria, and nurses Renee, Gabby and Christina. We truly appreciated your loving care and assistance. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in his memory to the charity of your choice. The family supports The American Cancer Society, in memory of Renie Leach, if you would like to donate to finding a cure.
