Henry Orvel Blair was born on February 14, 1941 in Bartlesville Oklahoma, one of 6 children born to Mary Josephine (Adams) and Denver Roosevelt Blair. The family moved to Vancouver, Washington where his father took a job in the shipyards during World War II. In 1944 the family relocated to McFarland California. They lived in Shafter, Rio Bravo and Rosedale areas. Hank attended Rosedale Elementary School and Shafter High School. Hank worked on agricultural equipment as a mechanic for 55 years, retiring from Handel and Sons. He also worked in the oil fields with CPS and as a CB radio installer for Jericho Communications. Hank was married to Nicolasa Sabedra in December 1958 and she preceded him in death in 1996. He married Josefina DeLeon June 21, 2007 in Shafter. Henry was preceded in death by his parents Denver Blair and Mary Blair Gardner, wife Nicolasa Blair and his great-granddaughter Kayla Blair. Hank is survived by wife Josefina Blair, his son, Henry Isaac Blair and wife Christina Blair of Shafter; daughters, Janet and husband Ernie Cabrera, Yolanda and husband Todd Sims and Dolores and husband Michael Ainsworth, all of Bakersfield; step-children, Carlos DeLeon, Albert DeLeon, Mellissa DeLeon, Miguel Figueroa and Lucia Figueroa; brother, Donald Blair and wife Shirley of Yuba City; sisters, Beverly Zecca of Bakersfield, Nancy Campbell-Day of Porterville, Gale Tuso and Dale Tabor, both of Shafter; 26 grandchildren, 35 great-grandchildren and many other loving family members. Henry will be deeply missed by all who knew him. A funeral service will be Friday November 11, at 3pm at Shafter Christian Fellowship, 632 James Street, for Henry Orvel Blair, age 70, of Shafter who passed away November 8, 2011 in Bakersfield. Visitation will precede the service starting at 2pm. Pastor Gene Lawrence will officiate and inurnment will be private. Arrangements are under the direction of Peters Funeral Home.
