Helen Mae Murray was born on September 14, 1943 to Alvin Reese and Vernice (Chatman) Reese in Wetumka, Oklahoma. Helen was a giving person who loved to share everything with her friends and family. She was a strong believer in tough love and could always be counted on for her honest opinion. Helen was an honest woman who protected herself and her family. She enjoyed the children in the neighborhood and loved to give them candy when they got off the school bus. Helen loved to spend her day on the telephone conversing with friends and relatives. She was a determined person who did not believe in call waiting and would expect to hear your voice on the other end within the first phone ring. Helen enjoyed taking vacations especially cruises and she loved all things Noah's Ark. Helen's strength was revealed as she battled thru many health issues. She endured several brain surgeries, was a breast cancer survivor after a mastectomy and ultimately passed away from stage four lung cancer. Among everything she held dear, Helen was a devote Christian who walked through God's heavenly gate on July 22, 2015 at 71 years old. She is survived by her mother, Vernice Reese; son, Derrick Block; Grandsons, Jerrick (Sandra) Block, Stefan Block, Corey Block, Alvin Block; granddaughter, Lexus Block; great- granddaughter, Halee Block; nephew, Eshan Reese; nieces, Tiffany (Robert) Marshall, Aujanae Reese, Aimee Reese; great- nephew, Robert Marshall Jr.; great-nieces, Brittany (Nathaniel) Boose, Briana Hand. She is preceded in death by her husband, Bernice Murray; father, Alvin Reese; brothers, Donald and Ronald; sister, Claudia.
