IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Hazel Ida
Waters
February 21, 1932 – August 8, 2011
Grandma or Grammi was born February 21, 1932 in Eufala, Oklahoma. She was the seventh daughter of nine siblings plus a half brother. Hazel was the baby of all the brothers and sisters. She cleaned the house at a young age due to helping take care of family needs. Hazel was from a time when the wash board was a luxury. Children ate what the adults didn't finish. Her father died when she was just a pre-teen. She later grew up had a short courtship with Odis Waters; they were "hot" for each other and they married Oct. 31, 1949. From then on they traveled from town to town with the seasons from Oklahoma, New Mexico, Arizona, and finally settling in Shafter, California. She had worked as a cotton picker, potato sheds, almond sheds, Burger King, and Watson's Cafe. Then in 1988 she retired. She had given birth to four children, two daughters and two sons. Her youngest daughter and she had depended on one another so much in the last few years. Grammi loved everything nature she loved the flowers, mountains, ocean, sky, clouds, watching rain dance in the street, she was even known to comment on how "pretty" dirt was. She loved to sew, make quilts, crochet, needlepoint, canvas projects, make Barbie clothes, Barbie chairs and couches, Barbie rocking chairs, restoring trashed items, and she loved to travel every chance she could. She loved animals; all animals, stray animals, rescued animals, she loved them. She had the biggest, goldest, purist, heart, most people could only imagine. She wore her heart on her sleeve always smiling, happy to see the best in everyone. Her pride and joy was her great grand baby. She loved him with every ounce of herself, and he returned the love and attention that she gave him. They enjoyed playing mega blocks, lining up cars, finding shapes, and he loved hearing her tell him how amazing and wonderful he was to her, just as much she loved to say it. She loved to listen to him jabber away. This marvelous angel we had the chance to know for a little while has gone to be with so much of her family and her former pets. Two main pets were Tinkerbell her and Grandpa had, (ever seen a teacup Chihuahua go squirrel hunting?) and the second was her baby calf she had back when her dad was alive (that cow was like a pet dog). The family that has welcomed her back home Aunt Bessie, Aunt Annie, Aunt Opal, Aunt sis, Aunt Melissa, Aunt Olie, Uncle Les Jay, Uncle Benny, her half brother George, her nephew Jerry, her mother, father, two oldest children Barbra Ann, and Jerry. Hazel survived by April Taylor(daughter), Heather Taylor(grand-daughter), George Taylor(Son-in-law), Justin Rosado("Grandson"), Amanda Rosado(grand-daughter), Wess Rosado ("her baby" Great Grand-son), Gene Pruitt (nephew), and Jennifer McKenzie(Grand-daughter). Her time here with us was a blessing and we will remember all the lessons she h as taught us. We love you, and will miss you dearly. A service was held Wednesday, August 11, 2011 at 10am at Peters Funeral Home for Hazel Ida Waters, age 79, who passed away August 8, 2011.
