Obituary

Harvey Long November 8,1920 – December 11,2006 Harvey Long was born November 8, 1920 to Jacob & Mary (Lipps) Long in OKeene, Oklahoma. He was raised in Oklahoma and served in the US Air Force from 1943 to 1946 receiving his Honorable Discharge. In 1947 he married Ava Maddux in Las Vegas. He and Ava moved back to Oklahoma for a few years and decided to permanently move to Wasco in 1956. He was a welder for Barker Brothers Ironworks for many years. Mr. Long was the first to assemble and manufacture the "bean picking harvester" and was very proud of it. Harvey and his brother Raymond loved to go Salmon Fishing in Klamath. He loved to spend a lot of time at their mobile home at Pismo Beach and also loved traveling to the casino's in Laughlin, NV. But most of all loved being around his family members. He was survived by his brother Raymond Long of Wasco, and many loving nephews and nieces. He was preceded in death by his wife, Ava in 2001, and his parents and 7 siblings. A graveside service under the direction of Peters Funeral Home was held Thursday, December 14 at 1:00 p.m. at Wasco Memorial Park. Pastor Alf Christensen of Lutheran Church officiated and interment was at Wasco Memorial Park. Visitation was held on Dec 13, from 2pm until 7pm at Peters Funeral Home, Wasco.
