Harvey was born on December 13, 1920 in Jasper, IN and passed away November 2, 2007 in Shafter, CA with his wife by his side. He and his two brothers were raised in an orphanage in Petersburg, IN and he graduated from high school in Evansville, IN in 1939. In 1941 he entered the army in Kentucky and was stationed at Minter Field, Shafter, CA in 1942. One day at the skating rink he was extended an invitation to Christmas dinner by a local man who had a beautiful daughter named Hannah. Harvey knew a good thing when he saw it and married Hannah on June 19, 1943, they made their home in Wasco, CA. They were blessed with three daughters whom he loved very much, his wife and daughters meant the world to him. In 1945 he went to work for the Southern California Gas Company from which he retired 40 years later as a Field Planner. Harvey loved to fish and he and his family took a trip to Mammoth every year for a week of fishing. He also enjoyed working outside on the Grant "ranch" where he and his wife lived. Many people looked forward to the produce he would bring them from the garden he and his friend Sterling had every year. Harvey made delicious fudge, divinity and toffee at Christmas time which all his friends looked forward to. He is preceded in death by his brothers James and Charles and by his oldest daughter Pamela and her husband J.B. Patty. He is survived by his wife Hannah and his two daughters and their spouses; Priscilla & Victor and Tricia & Chuck, two grandchildren Jarrod and Stephanie and one great grandchild Cobyn and his good friends Loran Grant and Sidney Tolliver. In lieu of flowers, friends can make donations to the Bakersfield Rescue Mission in Harvey's name. Viewing will be held Wednesday, November 7 at Peters Funeral Home in Wasco from 2pm to 8pm. A graveside service will be held Thursday, November 8 at 2pm at the Wasco Cemetery.
