Gwenda Smith Davidson Simpkins' well-worn, much used heart gave out after a lifetime of generously sharing it with a multitude of friends, strays and others who passed through Wasco High School, Westside Fellowship, Manny's Grocery, and/or her home. Gwenda, AKA Mom, Wife, Grandma, Bamaw, Loula passed away peacefully on August 5, 2017 in Wasco, California surrounded by love and loved ones. Gwenda was born on July 31, 1950 in San Diego, California, the daughter of Robert and Tempe Smith, and sister to Robert, Johnny, and Linda. Gwenda treasured her family, husband, Harold Simpkins; daughter, Ann Wilburn and husband Bart who she called Wilburn; son, Eddie Davidson and wife Melissa; grandchildren, Samantha (Martha) Jackson and husband Justin, Frankie Slick Wilburn and Lisa Ellis (her favorite granddaughter) joke between the girls, Jonathan, William, Jaxon Davidson, Dustin Wesley and Tyler; great grandsons, Zakery Mays, Devin Jackson, Bentlie Wilburn; nieces, Shelly Waldron, Denyse (Neecee) Salyards, Mark Smith, Wendie Jones and husband Zach, Tasha Simpson, Sarah (Minnie Me) Watson, Corie Mae Smith, Angie Copeland, Rikki Simpson and Jaisyn Jones; nephews, Michael and Shawn Sheffield, Michael Salyards, Timothy Waldron, and Matthew Sanchez and wife Esmeralda. Gwenda's chosen children whom she loved as her own include, David Perez and wife Stella, Armando Vento, Russell Colbert, Deana Lokhaug, and Christie Newcomb. Her very dear friends of many years, Larry and Gail Salyards, they grew up together, raised children together and it was in their home that she spent her last hours surrounded by her family and friends. She loved and will be missed by too many to name. Gwenda leaves behind a legacy of kindness, laughter, unconditional love and some of the best hugs ever, as well as a room full of M&M collectables and her beloved dog Rocky. A memorial service will be held Thursday, August 10, 2017 at 10am at Westside Family Fellowship for Gwenda Simpkins, age 67 of Wasco who passed away August 5, 2017 in Wasco.
