Gordon ("Gordy") Dean Larson was born June 4, 1947, to Marvin and Enid Larson in Aberdeen, SD. He spent most of his life in Aberdeen until moving to Bakersfield, CA in 2009.

After marrying the love of his life, Jean, in 1968, the young newlyweds had a son, John Klaus, who was born with severe disabilities. Jean and Gordy dedicated their lives to John, giving him all the joy and compassion attainable on this earth. Jean and Gordy went on to have six more children, raising them with love and grace.

Along this journey, Gordy served the Lord and his family with humility and dignity, including caring for his beloved John until his passing in 2020. Gordy leaves behind a legacy of children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren, who would be nowhere without his sacrifice and unconditional devotion. He was deeply loved by many and will be dearly missed.

Gordy went to see John and his Lord on June 16, 2024, after a brief and unexpected illness.

He leaves behind his wife of 55 years, Jean Larson of Bakersfield, CA; his sister, Lynne Roth (Tom) of Monument, CO; and his brother Kevin Larson (Lori) of Plattsmouth, NE. Gordy also leaves behind his other children: Peter Larson (Debbie) of Meridian, ID; Anna Mosey (Steve) of Aberdeen, SD; David Larson (Paige) of Ponca City, OK; Michael Larson (Katy) of Bakersfield, CA; Ben Larson (Anne) of Lakewood, CO; and Katie Whaley (Ryan) of Rapid City, SD. He also leaves behind a long list of grandchildren and great grandchildren.
