IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Glessie Leola
Mcgee
June 15, 1924 – April 13, 2007
Glessie Leola McGee was born June 15, 1924 in Bennington, Oklahoma to Nathaniel and Martha Owens. She passed away April 13 at the age of 82, in Tucson, Arizona where she had been living since 2003. Visitation will be held today from noon to 1:30pm at the Hopson-Anspach Mortuary in Lamont. A graveside service will be held at 2pm today at the South Kern Cemetery outdoor chapel. Elmo Moody will officiate. Glessie came to Kern County in 1947 and lived in Arvin until her move to Arizona. She married her husband Grover McGee in Las Vegas. Above all Glessie cared about her family; she always made sure her family knew they had a home with her if they needed it. She was a generous and giving woman. Glessie was the kind of woman who would say what was on her mind all the time. She loved shoes, jewelry, purses and going to second hand stores. Family will always remember that she pinched cheeks whenever she had the opportunity. She will be remembered for her delicious biscuits and gravy, as well as chicken and dumplings. She read the Bible and was a Godly woman. Glessie was fond of trips to Frazier Park. She collected wheat pennies and stamps, but even though she had these valuable collections she was convinced that her fortune was coming from the Publisher's Clearing House. Glessie is survived by her children, Martha and husband, James Brummett, Salatha Davis, David Green, Janie and husband, Lee Turpin, Theresa and husband, Sam Raynor, Martin and wife, Carol McGee, Toni and husband, John Conyer, Terry McGee, Audrey Walters, Lila and husband Ronnie Toy, Don and wife, Jeanie McGee; one daughter-in-law, Alline McGee; 40 grandchildren; 60 great-grandchildren; and 33 great great-grandchildren. She is predeceased by one son, Thurman, and her husband, Grover.
