Obituary

Gilberto was born on November 28, 1953 in La Candelaria, Nuevo Leon, Mexico to Adolfo Sr. and Elmina. He passed away peacefully on November 9, 2008, after a long battle from the results of a brain stem stroke. Gilberto has now gone to be with his Heavenly Father. He loved the ocean, now with no pain he soars as our guardian angel midst the ocean breeze. On November 20, 1976 Gilberto married Rosa Reyna (which he called Rosita) they moved to Shafter, California where he resided until his death. After numerous tries to have a family in 1990 Gilberto and Rosa were blessed with a daughter, Ariana. Ariana graduated from Bakersfield High School this year and despite Gilberto's ailments he joined the family and cheered her on as she crossed the stage. He said it was the best day of his life. In 2004, Gilberto himself was so excited to have completed his GED and receive his very own High School Diploma. To see his daughter graduate was a very proud moment. Gilberto was a member of First Pentecostal Church. Thank you to Rev. Leon Frost and the congregation for their shared love and support. He dedicated most of his life as a maintenance mechanic for cotton gins and almond haulers throughout Kern County. His last place of employment was Harvel Plastics Inc., which he enjoyed very much. He was a hard worker and a good provider for his family. Gilberto is survived by his wife, Rosa and daughter, Ariana Hinojosa. Five sisters: Gloria Martinez, Graciela Vela, Mirella Reyes, Marbella Lopez, Edelmina Barrera and three brothers: Adolfo Jr., Hector and Ruben Hinojosa. Gilberto is also survived by many nieces and nephews. Preceded in death by his parents, Adolfo Sr. and Elmina and his daughter, Irasema Hinojosa. Special thanks to Hoffmann Hospice for the superb quality care. The Hinojosa family is very thankful for their kindness and goodwill to our community. Especially for being able to facilitate the attendance to Ariana's graduation and finally to Laura, you are truly an angel! The family would also like to acknowledge Golden Living Center in Shafter for their care of Gilberto in his last days. Visitation will be held the evening of November 13, from 5 to 8 p.m., with a funeral service on Friday, November 14, at 1:00 p.m., Peters Funeral Home located at 844 East Lerdo Hwy in Shafter, CA.
