Gilberto Caudelaro born Feb 3, 1941, passed away at the age of 72 on June 28, 2013 in Bakersfield. He was a hardworking man and devoted to his family. He was a caring person with a big heart who would help anybody in need. Gilberto is survived by his wife Soledad Martinez; sons, Justo Cruz, Eliseo Martinez, Gilbert Caudelaro, Jose Caudelaro, Jorge Caudelaro and Ricardo Caudelaro; daughters, Martha Hernandez, Silvia Zuniga, Petra Hernandez, Laura Avila, Elizabeth Avila and Rosalba Caudelaro; and 34 grandchildren. He was preceded in death by one son, Michael in 2004. Gilberto was born in McAllen Texas where he lived part of his childhood. Then he moved to Mexico until his early 20's. After his father passed on, Gilberto made California his home. His favorite pastimes were playing soccer and baseball and listening to his favorite music. He was a farm worker in Arvin, where everybody knew him as Don Gil. In his later years, Gilberto was a loving grandfather who would watch and care for his grandchildren as his own kids. He was a good mentor and a great role model to his children and to society. Gilberto was a well-respected person and will be dearly missed by friends and family but will never be forgotten. A wake will be held beginning at 4pm on Tuesday, July 2 at the family residence and Holy Rosary will be recited at 6pm. Mass of the Christian Burial will be recited Wednesday, July 3 at 10am at St. Augustine's Church of Lamont. Fr. John Schmoll will officiate and interment will follow at South Kern Cemetery, Arvin.
