Georgette Elizabeth Terry was born on December 2, 1922 in San Jose, California the youngest child of John and Marie Costere. She passed away on February 23, 2012 after a full life. Her parents, French immigrants, had five children and ran a French laundry in downtown San Jose. She attended Notre Dame High School and San Jose State College. She met her husband George at college in 1940 and they were married at Fort Benning, Georgia on November 20, 1942. Following WWII, they returned to San Jose State College to complete their education. In June of 1947 they moved to Wasco, where George spent his career with the high school. She was active raising her family of five children. She volunteered and gave her time generously supporting school and sport activities, at St. John's School and Wasco High School. She served for many years in various leadership roles for the Wasco Women's Club, and St. John's parish. She returned to work after her children were raised, primarily with Jackson and Perkins Rose Company from 1972 to her retirement in 1988. Georgette enjoyed travel in the US and internationally. She has been the principal link between the US and French branches of her family. Georgette is predeceased by her husband George, who died in 1995, her brother, three sisters and granddaughter Chloe Rose Border. She is survived by her five children, 13 grandchildren and 3 great grandsons: Stanley and Ginger Terry (Justin, Andrew), Pamela and Bill Cochran (Emily and Elizabeth), Michael and Marrianne Terry (Micaela, Stephen, Amanda), Douglas Terry and Margaret Butler (Sydney and Samantha) and Georgette and John Border (Joshua, Caleb, Hailey and Amelia). Her great grandsons are Max and Ryan Gibbons and George Terry. Wasco has been her home for almost 65 years. She was a proud member of the community and was appreciative of the love and support of her many friends who contributed greatly to her full life. A rosary and mass will be held on Friday, March 2 at 10 am at St. John the Evangelist Church in Wasco with a gravesite service to follow at Wasco Cemetery. Donations may be made to the George Terry Memorial Scholarship Fund through the Wasco Community Scholarship Association, PO Box 7, Wasco, CA 93280.
