A memorial service will be held April 18, 11am, at Peters Funeral Home in Shafter for Genevieve "Jenny" Alice Hopkins, 85, of Shafter, who passed away April 11 in Shafter. Pastor Mike Nichols will officiate. Jennie was born August 22, 1922 in Augusta, Arkansas to John and Lucille Busick. She married Charles Hopkins in 1939 in Patterson, Arkansas, and in 1948 they moved to Wasco, moving again two years later to Shafter. Jennie is survived by her sons, Bill Hopkins and wife, Kay, of Las Vegas, Mike Hopkins and wife, Linda of Bakersfield; daughter-in-law, Judy Hopkins of Shafter; Sister Jean Magona; 11 grandchildren; 9 great-grandchildren; and 4 great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Charles; son, Ron Hopkins; and daughter, Pat Smithson and husband, Dub.
