Obituary

Born in Bakersfield, California to his parents Georgia and Dutch Albitre. He was one of four children. Attended Bakersfield High School where he was awarded an art Scholarship to an Art Institute, Los Angeles, California. Soon after he was drafted in 1953 by the United States Army, he served in the Korean War until 1955 as an Ammunition Supply Specialist. He was awarded the National Defense Service Medal, Korean Service Medal, U.N. Service Medal, and Good Conduct Medal. Fresh out of the military, while attending the 5th annual Glennville rodeo, Fred met the love of his life Betty Albitre (she still has the ticket stub from that rodeo). On March 2, 1957 the couple married and spent 55 amazing years together on this earth. Together the two of them raised three children. Fred worked at Piute Packing House as a butcher, member of the butchers union local 1036 for 17½ years. After the plant closed he went to work for ARB Inc. as a foreman, member of the labor union local 220. He retired from ARB after 25 years of service. From the beginning cattle ranching has been his passion. Whether it be fixing fence or anything to do with ranching. But branding time was his favorite, because everyone came together to do a job. Buying his first piece of property and a few cows in 1959, he and Betty have been building their cattle business ever since. He was a proud long time member of the Cattlemen's Association. Fred loved family get togethers most of all. As well as a good dance, in his younger days he and Betty attended all the mountain dances, the Summit, Balance Rock, and the Old Granite Station School House. Fred was preceded in death by his parents Dutch and Georgia Albitre; his brother Tony Albitre, and his sister Louise Bernard. Left to enjoy his memory are his wife Betty; eldest son Harlan and his wife Tabitha Albitre of Bakersfield; daughter Danette and husband David Carter of Woody; youngest son Randy and wife Vicki Albitre of Bakersfield; his brother Ernie and wife Audrey Albitre of Bakersfield. What he was most proud of were his seven grandchildren. Brad, Thomas, and Chance Albitre; Kylie and Vail Carter; Devon and Dustee Albitre, which he was involved with whether it be a basketball game or a High School or junior rodeo. We would like to thank family and friends for their kindness and thoughts. Come join us in a celebration of his life at the Woody Community Center, Woody CA.
