Obituary

Frank Wilmer Enns was born April 4, 1918 in Reedley, California, one of five children born to Marie (Bergen) and Frank D. Enns. The family moved to Shafter and he attended Shafter elementary schools and Shafter High School. Wilmer was introduced to Lois Roskam and they married April 4, 1941 and continued to make Shafter their home. Wilmer farmed and operated a nursery business for over 50 years. Wilmer was an avid reader and loved to read books on Bible prophecy. Wilmer was a quiet man, but had a sly wit and dry humor that people enjoyed. He was baptized in the Shafter Mennonite Brethren Church in 1935 and served many years on the Fest Committee. After retirement they moved to Porterville in 1978 and became members of the Church of the Nazarene. Wilmer was preceded in death by his wife Lois October 16, 2003 after 62 years of marriage. He is survived by his children, Stanley Enns and wife Karen, Erlene and husband Herman Toews, Kenneth Enns and wife Sue; 8 grandchildren; 8 great grandchildren; and numerous step-grandchildren, great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren and one great-great-great grandchild; brother, Elwood Enns and sister, Marylou Hicks. He was preceded in death by 2 brothers, Gene Enns and Dick Enns. A graveside service will be held Friday, February 13 at 1pm at Shafter Memorial Park for Frank Wilmer Enns, age 96, of Porterville who passed away February 9, 2015 in Visalia. A memorial service will follow at 2pm at Shafter Mennonite Brethren Church. A visitation will be held at Peters Funeral Home, Shafter on Thursday, February 12 from 2pm to 8pm.
