Obituary

Frank Dickens was born October 19, 1959 one of four children born to Odean and Ruth (Hanson) Dickens. He lived in Santa Cruz before settling in the Shafter-Wasco area. He attended Shafter elementary schools and graduated from Shafter High School with the Class of 1977. Frank worked in agriculture for Jackson and Perkins, Armstrong Rose Growers and Britz Simplot. Frank married Donna Watkins March 30, 2004 in Virginia City, Nevada and they made Wasco their home. Frank was a Raiders fan and he liked to gamble, but loved scratchers. He was also an avid fisherman and would fish anywhere there was water. He couldn't swim but loved to fish. Friends and family describe him as "A really good man". The family would like to thank Frank's boss and friend, Danny Anderson for helping Frank and his family during his illness. Frank was preceded in death by his parents and one sister, Carol Ince. Surviving family members include his wife, Donna Lee Dickens of Wasco; step-children, Billy Watkins of Coalinga, Laura Watkins (Vidal Bernal) of Wasco, and Shylah Watkins (Arturo Quezada) of Wasco; brother, James Dickens (Tamra) of Bakersfield; eight grandchildren, Christopher Hoppel, Riley Aguayo, Joseph Aguayo, Allyssa Aguayo, Emily Watkins, Aleena Watkins, Amanda Aguayo, and Nathaniel Watkins; nieces Jeannie Dickens and Melinda Knowles; best friend, Terry Henry and sons, Brian and Dustin; and many other friends. A funeral service will be held Tuesday, July 16, at 6pm at Peters Funeral Home, Wasco for Frank Dywane Dickens, age 53, of Wasco who passed away July 12 in Delano. Pastor Bill Lewis of the Griffith Ave Baptist will officiate the service.
