He fought a strong battle against cancer and on April 8, with his family by his side, was called home. Frank was born in Sanger, to parents who immigrated to California around 1919 from Lagos de Moreno, Jalisco, Mexico. The family moved to Bakersfield from Sanger when Frank was very young. He was known by his family and friends as "Kico". Frank graduated from Kern County Union High School in 1942 and joined the Army Air Corps in January of 1943. He served in the European Theater during World War II, and was stationed in England. Upon his return home from the service he worked at Piute Meat Company and then began a long career with Cal-Cot where he was employed for almost 40 years. During his retirement he enjoyed passing the time by making gambling trips to Reno and Las Vegas and playing the California Lottery. He had a fond love for animals and up until his illness always had a pet. He always had some table scraps ready for any stray that came along. He also loved listening to the Big Band music of the 40's. He is preceded in death by his parents Ignacio and Francisca Cervantes, brother and sister-in-law Socorro and Mary Cervantes, brother-in-law Fernando Valdes, nephews Dominic and Christopher Cervantes and niece Jennifer Cervantes. He is survived by his siblings; Bea Cervantes, Teresa and brother-in-law Manuel Rodriguez, Mary Valdes and Jess Cervantes all of Bakersfield and, Ignatius and sister-in-law Petra Cervantes of Silver Lakes, Ca. He is also survived by 18 nieces and nephews, 26 great nieces and nephews, and 5 great-great nieces and nephews. We would like to thank the Optimal Hospice nurses and staff, and especially niece Mary Lou Morgantini and brother Jess, as well as his sisters and brother-in-law Manuel, for their help in taking care of Kico during these past few months. In lieu of flowers donations could be made to the SPCA, or Optimal Hospice. Pallbearers will be Alfred Rodriguez, Richard Rodriguez, Steve Rodriguez, Louie Cervantes, Ernie Cervantes, and Fernie Valdes
