Francisco Rivera was born February 14, 1916 in Apatzingan, Michoacán, Mexico to Manuel and Maria (Barajas) Rivera. He was very young when he started working in the fields at only eight years old and continued to work until he was over 85 years old. He was a very hard worker, responsible father and faithful husband. Francisco's family will remember him for the perfect example he was to others. He always had a great attitude. Francisco also had a good memory and loved to tell the grandchildren stories of when he was young. Francisco was married to Angelina Garcia for over 60 years; she preceded him in death in 1995. Surviving family members include his sons, Jesus Rivera of Santa Clara and Francisco G. Rivera of Shafter; daughters, Maria Rivera, Carmen Rivera, Consuelo Rivera, Luisa Rivera and Eva Rivera, all of Mexico and Lupe Arce of Bakersfield; sister, Maria Negrete of Mexico and many loving grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, son, Manuel Rivera, 4 sisters and 3 brothers. Mass of the Christian Burial will be celebrated, Monday, May 12 at 10am at St. Therese's Church. Fr Pedro Umana will officiate. Burial will be in Segrado Corazon de Jesus Panteon, El Pino, Michoacán, Mexico. Visitation will be held Monday, May 12 from 12noon to 8pm at Peters Funeral Home.
