IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Frances Mae
Lohr
September 29, 1917 – December 18, 2013
Frances was born in Bakersfield, California to Henry H. Krause and Jenny Ratzlaff Krause. The family settled on a small farm in Wasco in 1933. Frances lived there, attended Wasco elementary schools and graduated from Wasco High School with the class of 1935 and began her career in local grocery stores until she married Barnard M. Lohr in July of 1955. She retired from the grocery business (Shafter's Tops Market) around 1980. She loved working with the public. Frances Krause Lohr was preceded in death by her parents; one sister, Josie (Clint) Fannin; two brothers, Victor Krause and Marvin Krause, and her husband Barnard Lohr. Surviving her are sisters-in-law, Marie Swan Krause (Victor) of Wasco and Evelyn Williams Krause (Marvin) of Grass Valley. She was the proud aunt of the Fannin sisters, Marlene Swan of Wasco, Glenna Smith of San Diego and Gerry (Roger) Wirant of Fresno; the Victor Krause children, Joan and Lee Johnson of Bakersfield, Patricia and David Alpert of Carpentaria, Kin and Kathy Krause of Wasco; the Marvin Krause children, Janice and Dennis McCasland of Oregon and Melvin Krause of Utah. Frances was a beloved great, great-great aunt, grandma or nanny to nieces and nephews too numerous to name. Frances was an avid supporter of the Wasco Merchants Baseball Team, the Dodgers and the Los Angeles Lakers, through the good years and the bad. She was an excellent bowler for many years. Frances had such a deep inner faith that she saw only the good in people. She was such a loving, caring and generous lady! Many thanks for the TLC she received at Shafter's Golden Living residence and for Debbie, Francie's roommate/spokesperson, and Optimal Hospice was welcomed for a couple of months. In lieu of flowers you may send memorials to the Wasco Historical Society, PO Box 186, Wasco, CA 93280 or to made out to Marlene Swan, 700 Hollytree Lane, Wasco, CA 93280 for the Francis Lohr Entertainment Fund for her friends and the clients at Golden Living Center. A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, January 11, 2014 at noon at the United Methodist Church, 7th and Birch, Wasco.
