Floy L. Sturgeon February 11, 1936 – February 11, 2010 Floy Sturgeon of Shafter passed away on February 11, 2010 in Nevada at the age of 74. She was born in Booneville, Arkansas to Theodore and Josie(Merril) James February 11, 1936. Floy moved to California in the 50's and eventually ended up in Shafter in 1954. Here she met Manuel Sturgeon who she married on November 15, 1958. Floy had worked as a meter reader for 20 some years at Bell Ridge and Premier packing houses. She loved to work puzzles, read her bible and always trying to keep her mind sharp. She was also a member of the Free Will Baptist Church in Shafter. Floy was preceded in death by her husband Manuel October 8, 2009. She is survived by her daughters, Teressa Zucker and Connie Sturgeon; grandsons, TJ Maher, JR Patterson, Brandon Patterson and Sheldon Maher. Pastor Dean Long of Shafter Free Will Baptist Church will officiate Graveside services on Friday February 19, 2010 at the Shafter Memorial Park
