Obituary

Florentino F. Heredia was born July 24, 1924 in San Pedro, California one of seven children born to Marcelina and Pablo Heredia. The family moved to Shafter in 1930 and lived in the Mexican Colony. Tino attended Shafter elementary schools and Shafter High School with the Class of 1942. Tino worked for a short time in agriculture before moving to Los Angeles where he worked for an equipment manufacturer as a machinist for 20 years. Tino returned to Shafter and worked driving tractor and farm equipment. Tino loved to go to the Casinos and went to whatever casino the bus would take him. He was also a member of the Eagles Club of Bakersfield. Tino is survived by his five sisters, Pauline Chavez, Linda Mendoza, Susie Aguilar, Mary Alberto and Margaret Santana; and many loving nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and 1 brother, Robert; and sister Lucy Jara. Holy Rosary will be recited Thursday, September 1 at 6:30pm at Peters Funeral Home for Florentino F. Heredia, age 87, of Shafter who passed away August 27, 2011 in Bakersfield. Mass of the Christian Burial will be said, Friday, September 2 at 10am at St. Therese's Catholic Church of Shafter. Fr. Pedro Umana will officiate the service and interment will follow at Shafter Memorial Park. Visitation will be held Thursday, September 1 from 2pm until 8pm at Peters Funeral Home.
