Felix Rios left this world peacefully on November 19, 2006 at the age of 82. He was born November 6, 1924 in Toliman, Jalisco, Mexico to the late Maria Venegas and Francisco Rios. He joined the Mexican Military Service at the age of 18 and then became the bodyguard for the Mexican President Miguel Aleman. He married Maria Mendoza in 1954 and had 6 children, Yolanda, Francisco, Gloria, Felix, Angelica and Ricardo. He has 12 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren. Felix joined the Bracero program in 1955 until 1960. He then joined La Causa with Cesar Chavez and Dolores Huerta in the United Farm Workers Association and Los Teamsters, also a farm workers union. He continued being active in the fight for La Causa. He was an avid reader and enjoyed music and traveling to his native Jalisco, Mexico. He has been a resident of Wasco since 1982. He is survived by his wife of 52 years, Maria of Wasco; sons, Francisco of Wasco, Ricardo & wife Marta of Bakersfield and Felix Rios Jr. of San Fernando; daughters, Yolanda Contreras & husband Rafael of Sacramento, Gloria Anguiano & husband Rafael of Wasco and Angelica Rios of Wasco; sisters, Apolonia Rios and Guadalupe Rios, both of Mexico; 12 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren. The Rios Family has lost one of their most precious jewels that will be forever missed. Holy Rosary was recited Tues, Nov. 21 at Peters Funeral Home, Wasco and Mass of the Christian Burial was said Wed., Nov. 22, at St. John's Church Fr. Ricardo Magdaleno of St. Joseph's Church officiated and interment followed at Wasco Memorial Park.
