Obituary

Fannie May Gamino was born April 9, 1930 in Blunt County, Alabama to Thomas and Grace (Chester) Britt. Fannie met her future husband, Louis Gamino while he was attending UCLA and they married September 29, 1950. They moved to Bakersfield and Fannie worked as a telephone operator for Southern Pacific Railroad and later was promoted to the position of dispatcher. Fannie decided to make a career change and went back to cosmetology school and later owned and operated ABC Beauty Shop retiring after 14 years. Fannie enjoyed reading and watching Jeopardy and Wheel of Fortune, but her passion was bingo. She enjoyed playing and calling the numbers at Our Lady of Perpetual Help and STARS Bingo formerly on Norris Road. She also volunteered at the Rasmussen Center. Fannie is survived by her husband of 57 years, Louis Gamino; son, Paul Gamino; brother, Max Britt; and grandson, Hayden Gamino. She was preceded in death by her daughter, Pamela Jane Gamino who passed away on September 23, 2005. Mass of the Christian Burial will be celebrated Thursday, April 3, at 9AM at Our Lady of Perpetual Help. Msgr. Braun will officiate and interment will follow at Union Cemetery. A visitation will be held Tuesday, April 1 at Hopson-Anspach Family Mortuary from 5pm to 8pm.
